Type of College Student Health insurance plans

If you think college students do not need health insurance, you are wrong.

Students should be provided with health insurance to ensure that their healthcare are always covered so that they would not end up in emergency room every time they are ill or involved in an accident.

Nowadays, many colleges understand the need of having college student health insurance.

Therefore these colleges require their prospective students to provide proof of health insurance as a condition of enrollment.

Health insurance for college students is usually a kind of group insurance provided through an insurance company appointed by the college.

Office visits are usually free, as for other services covered by the insurance would depend on the kind of insurance picked by the college.
So it is wise if you scrutinize the insurance plan offered at the college before you sign up with it.

College student health insurance at least has three kinds of plans to choose.

These are school-sponsored plan, family plan, or an individual plan.
Family plan usually covers an employer’s dependant who is in college.

University Insurance Plans And Prior Military Students?

August 23rd, 2010 -- Posted in Insurance Plans | 1 Comment »

I served in the Air Force for one term before deciding to go to college full-time. Im not currently employed and the only health care i receive is from the VA hospital but im not a disabled veteran so it doesn’t include any kind of dental coverage. There seems to be an option through my university to purchase a insurance plan with them. Should i do this and if so how does this conflict with care received at the VA hospital?

If your VA coverage includes all possible medical needs and you can obtain it conveniently, you should not need to purchase medical coverage through the university. If the university’s dental coverage option costs more than two hundred dollars for twelve months, it is probably not a good option for someone under thirty years old who has no dental problems and needs only regular exams and cleanings.
