What Would Be The Consequences Of Living Without Health Insurance For My Family?
My family health insurance is $565 per month. My family dental is about $50/month. I only make $2400 per month. After taxes and medical deducions, my take home pay is only $1600/month. Almost 25% of my gross pay goes to insurance.
I’ve thought about cancelling medical to help us survive to make sure we have enough money to live on. What would be the consequences

Your emergencies would fall on the mercy of trauma centers so they can pay instead of you.

you could put $400 a month into a health savings account and not touch it. then hope it is enough to cover your medical expenses. But if something very serious happened you would be responsible for the entire cost. you could look into changing your coverage to a high deductible catastrophic care policy. They usually cost a lot less but only cover the most expensive care. But you could probably save more than enough monet to cover the deductible. there are ways to save money, but you would have to be responsible and manage your finances well.

You probably don’t think so now but you will find out unless the Health Care Reform law is changed,

It depends. Is your family relatively healthy? Do you think you could get by without it? If yes then you should probably cancel it. A lot of people who can’t afford health insurance sign up with companies that give them discount cards for professional health-care providers. I’m not able to afford health insurance right now, so I signed up with Procard International. https://www.procardinternational.com/AthenaM4474. I paid less than $20 and got a card which gives me 10%-60% discounts on prescriptions, eye doctors, dentists, physicians, and even local businesses for my whole family. The card doesn’t expire and there’s no limit as to how much you can use it. There’s also no paperwork, pre-activation examination, health restrictions, or age limits. Your whole family can benefit from just one card that costs less than $20. It’s a lot better than spending $565 a month. And at the time I signed up they were offering a Hearing Plan, VIP Health Plan (Discounted Vitamins), Medical Record Storage (Health Tracer), and a Financial Wellness plan all for free along with your card. I’m not sure if they’re still offering those four additional services, but you should definitely check it out.

Being without any insurance is not good idea. I would not be too concerned about loosing dental insurance, fix what’s necessary and you should be okay for while. There may be some options available for you. I don’t know what kind of plan you have now but raising your deductible will lower your premium this way if medical expense happens at least you have some limit, without ins. sky is limit. You could also consider getting accident only limited plan if you have healthy family. However, it would be best to contact Insurance Agent Licensed in your State, it does not cost anything and it could only help. If you want you can tell me state you live in and I will give you who to contact or you can look online. Good luck.
